Dispute resolution services

We provide traditional litigation services in the Courts of Myanmar in addition to alternative dispute resolutions services including mediation and binding arbitration under the New York Convention.

Representing clients in traditional litigation proceedings before the Courts of Myanmar and the Labor Dispute Settlement Tribunal accounts for the majority of our practice in this area. Increasingly, however, international businesses are recognizing the advantage of mediation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution techniques (ADR) as attractive means for resolving disputes in a timely and cost effective manner. We work with clients in drafting mediation and arbitration clauses and arranging for alternative dispute resolution mechanisms for a variety of contracts; and, we regularly engage in mediation proceedings in the labor and employment context. While binding arbitration is still relatively unknown in Myanmar, the nation is a party to the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards and STLF continues to recommend and promote arbitration in Myanmar in order to advance the interests of our international clients and the positive development of the country.
